lucifer-crocosmia
'Lucifer' Montbretia - Crocosmia

Celebrate summer with the bold blooms of 'Lucifer' crocosmia! Don't let its devilish name fool you - this plant is pure heaven for gardeners and hummingbirds, with its proliferation of bright red blooms on statuesque stems in summer. They emerge from handsome fans of iris-like foliage and bloom for weeks. These sun-loving perennials attract lots of hummingbirds and bring a color to the garden that few other plants can match. When happy - planted in full sun and given average moisture - 'Lucifer' crocosmia (some people prefer to call it montbretia, pronounced mont-bree-sha) will spread to make a nice patch - enough for a truly stunning display, or dig some up to plant elsewhere or share with friends. It's a great introduction to gardening for butterflies and hummingbirds!

Vital Details:
Size: 36-42" tall and 12-18" wide.
Light: Full sun (6+ hrs/day)
Water: Average soil & moisture needs.
Hardiness: USDA zone 5-9 (Find your hardiness zone)
Pollinator value: Loved by all pollinators, but known for attracting a plethora of butterflies and hummingbirds.
Notable features: long blooming, sun-loving, attracts hummingbirds & butterflies, cut flower.
Plant name: Crocosmia 'Lucifer'
